Öffnungszeiten im Internet (auch auf Hauptseite) falsch angegeben. Sehr schade. Der ältere Herr am Empfang sehr unhöflich.

Not really helpful at all. The wrong address is listed as the archive address despite them moving buildings. Their website is in English but when you arrive at the archives nothing can be translated into English. Only 1 staff member could speak English, which considering this is the most widely spoken language in the world is not good enough. The technology at the archives is also backward, still using rolls of film to store documents and not having them saved electronically on a server. I know funds may be limited but a lack of a computer server with electronic documents is no excuse in this modern world. After taking a substantial fee of 20 euros at the archives stating they would try and locate genealogy details of my Lithuanian great grandparents I still have not heard back from the archives. This is after sending multiple emails back in November 2017. They took my money like a bunch of con artists and did absolutely nothing to assist me. My advise find a local historian who knows how to translate documents to English to find the information, these guys are useless. Do not waste your time or money. I do not recommend.

Be very careful: The archive only searches for documents starting from the year 1904, however, they STILL ask for and take your money for a search request, although they know it is in vain.The request was described in detail, they knew exactly that the search will not be carried out duo to the year limitation. They knew it, but still asked for the fee and gladly took it. What do you get in this case? A notice that your search request was not carried out written in Lithuanian, even though the whole conversation and request was in English, which took them almost a month (!) to react to.
